Marie Stone van Vuuren is an artist, musician and project manager/producer. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she currently resides in Greensboro, NC with her filmmaker husband, Stephen van Vuuren and her three cats (Kato, MeToo and Gypsy).
She has been a passionate artist since childhood and was heavily influenced by her father who was a professional artist and provided coaching, skills, technique and encouragement. She exhibits her visual art, clothing art, painted furniture and objet d’art at local galleries and art shows. She has worked under the tutelage of numerous artists studying life drawing, oil painting, watercolor and sculpture.
Marie studied classical guitar at Guilford College and North Carolina School of the Arts, as well as private master class study with some of the world’s leading guitarists. She has recorded with Manifest Spirit Records www.naftracks.com and is a Member of Music for People www.musicforpeople.org where she enjoys developing improvisation skills in their Musicianship and Leadership program.
With SV2 Studios www.sv2studios.com., Marie enjoys applying her love of music and art in the production of independent film making where she’s able to utilize a variety of her skills and interests. She has worked in various capacities on many film/video projects providing art and music direction, recording and producing soundtracks and sound design and has served as Producer, Unit Production Manager and Assistant Editor for short films, commercials, PSAs and music videos.
